Although global WPV incidence saw steep declines in January through March, there was little progress in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria, the three remaining endemic countries.
WPV Type 1 predominated; data on circulating vaccine derived poliovirus, not presented here, showed Type 2 to be predominant.
