President condemns killing of polio vaccination workers in Karachi

Islamabad. President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on polio field workers in Karachi and Peshawar in which woman workers involved in polio eradication campaign lost their lives
While condemning the death of volunteers, the President directed the concerned authorities to conduct an enquiry into the barbaric incidents and bring the real culprits to book.
The President while expressing his profound grief and sorrow over the incident expressed sympathies with the bereaved families of the workers and prayed to Allah Almighty for eternal peace of the departed souls.
Paying rich tributes to the services rendered by the polio field teams, the President said that they have been instrumental in eradication of the disease from the country.

The President directed all concerned to coordinate with the national polio eradication teams and provide them foolproof security so that they could continue its campaign without any hindrance.
The President reiterated unflinching resolve and commitment of the government for complete eradication of the polio from the country and urged the provincial government for ensuring safety and security to the workers involved in this noble cause.
The attacks on the polio eradication workers took place in separate locations in Karachi and Peshawar.
Along with Afghanistan and Nigeria, Pakistan is one of only three countries where polio is still endemic.
