Purpose: Provide expert advice, guidance, oversight and assistance to the UNICEF regional office and to UNICEF countries office in South Asia on relevant measures for determining UNICEF programming priorities in the health area and identifying areas of convergent programming with other development sectors, especially nutrition, hygiene and sanitation, Girls education, Social policy, Protection and Polio eradication and Immunization. This includes providing assistance in the formulation of long-term policies and strategies to UNICEF country offices – both programme related and cross-sectoral – that are innovative and respond to the changing development context in South Asia, in acceleration progress toward the MDG and positioning health in the Post MDG agenda in South Asia.
