EIGHT ITEMS ON SUBACUTE SCLEROSING PANENCEPHALITIS
Many medical students in North America and Europe know about SSPE only from textbooks. SSPE persists in countries where measles transmission continues.
Two of these items are, to me, of particular interest: the first item listed, from Papua New Guinea, with better SSPE surveillance than in most other developing countries; and the third item, from JID, with fresh estimates of SSPE cases prevented by vaccination.
We shall see an end to SSPE when we see an end to measles.
