The IMB meeting, which forms the basis for this report, took place before the identification of new WPV cases in northeast Nigeria. The report focuses largely on Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Vaccine derived poliovirus remains a major concern of the IMB. The switch from tOPV to bOPV is associated with a decline in the number of cVDPV outbreaks, but not in the intensity of the VDPV outbreaks, notably in Guinea and Madagascar.
