Five Items on Pertussis in Developing Countries

Among the vaccine preventable diseases, pertussis is perhaps among those least studied in the developing world. Here are five recent contributions to the pertussis literature. Some authors propose the introduction of TDaP for maternal vaccination; this product is not commonly used in the developing world, where whole cell vaccines are still preferred.

The last item calls for a systematic review of the literature on pertussis burden; no such review has appeared in the year since the item’s publication.
