The last two decades have seen a sea change in international vaccine manufacturing and procurement, with western manufacturers, who formerly dominated the market, now competing with Asian manufacturers, who compete with them on price. This phenomenon is of great importance for those GAVI recipients who are graduating from GAVI in the near future, and will have to self-finance their vaccine purchases.
