Polio in Nigeria, Selected Citations from 2017 and 2018

Please see below, with weblinks, citations on polio in Nigeria, one of the  three remaining polio endemic countries in the world.

In August 2016, Borno State, in northeast Nigeria, confirmed WPV after years without confirmed polio. Uniquely, Nigeria was classified as non-endemic for polio, and then as endemic, with WPV transmission undetected in the years before 2016.

Items 1 and 2 detail the continued WPV transmission in Borno State. Item 3 details the eradication efforts of 2017. Items 4 through 6 describe the role of Boko Haram in impeding national efforts at polio elimination; item 7 describes approaches to vaccination in conflict areas.

Items 9 through 11 describe experience with IPV. Items 12 and 13 describe Nigerian experience with the STOP program. Item 21 documents environmental surveillance.

Good reading.
