Oral fexinidazole for human African trypanosomiasis

Human African trypanosomiasis caused by Trypanosoma brucei gambiense (g-HAT) is transmitted to human beings by tsetse flies in western and central Africa. Human beings are the only significant reservoir of the protozoan parasite, and disease control is focused on the detection and treatment of infected individuals, with or without vector control.
